OKAY!
We are really ready. I have been training at Vince Mini's House of Pain since August, and also have ridden 800 miles since then.
I have been riding in Placerville on the bike trail here and also in Folsom on the bike trail.
We have rented Mom and Dad's van, which Peter will be driving, and we plan to get in and drive to Florida on May first.
Placerville Bike Shop has put new tires on my bike and tuned it up, so it's ready too!
In the meantime, I have been taking singing lessons and have won the part of the Donkey in Shrek the Musical at Imagination Theater! So I will also be practicing my lines while riding. So I'll have something to do. The show runs Thanksgiving to Christmas. So plan on coming to see it. Don't ask me for tickets. I always screw that up. Just go to the website or call the theater directly.
We will make a few stops on the way to the starting point, but we will make our way to Key West and I'll jump out and start pedaling to Maine. The Greenway Trail covers the whole route, so I guess I can't get lost this time! Peter says to keep the water on the right. You can see the route details on the website greenway.org
Can't wait to get started!
Those two crazy old folks are at it again! After a cross country trip in 2012, and a West Coast tour in 2014, we are ready to tackle the East Coast. You can see the totally awesome blogs from our other trips by clicking on the links on the right column of this page. Follow along our tour from Key West to Bar Harbor on the East Coast Greenway Bike Trail. We won't be sorry!
Keep the water on both sides as you start, or you may have trouble pedalling.
ReplyDeleteBe sure to visit Hemingway House and the famous six-toed cats who have sanctuary there. The bar now known as Captain Tony’s has been slinging drinks since the days of Prohibition. It is the former home of Sloppy Joe's (which moved across the street in 1937) and was Hemingway’s favorite spot for knocking back scotch and soda. Sloppy Joe's celebrates its 80th birthday May 5. If you're there at that time, it might be worth a drive by. Also, the Green Parrot, the oldest dive bar in Key West, has a solid rep as the best live music in town.
