Biking through Georgia
The Land of Tara!
The South is very different from California. It's humid and very green. Anything that stands still is covered with moss and vines. There are a million churches. Tons of armadillos. Plus, the mini marts sell BOILED PEANUTS in the shell cooking away in crock pots.
Lots of houses I saw are set 100 yards back from the road. People don't seem as concerned with fences around their property. There aren't many sprinkler systems and everyone is mowing mowing mowing every day!
People are generally friendly and most drivers courteously give wide clearance when they pass me.
In fact, there were only one or two angry drivers during my whole time in Georgia. Yesterday a guy pulled up and yelled "Get the Truck off the Toad!" Which I interpreted to mean that he was on his way home from the pet shop and his son in the back seat was being careless with his Tonka toys.
It's the only logical explanation.
Georgia roads I used are in good condition and the elevation was flat!
