Florida

Florida was hot and humid, except when it was raining.  There were three days of riding in the rain.

There was a marked difference between the atmosphere of the Keys and that of Miami.  Leaving the Keys was definitely going from islands to mainland culturally.  I immediately started seeing billboards advertising attorneys.  I had gone from the land of Parrot-heads to the land of giant lawyer heads.

Started seeing lots more roadkill, and the drivers became more and more impatient.  They drive with their horns in town.  Gradually there were also fewer iguanas and I started seeing armadillos and snakes.

Florida is flat and has pretty good bike lanes.  It was only tricky in downtown Miami, and a couple of other spots where there was on going construction.  So the riding was great.  Saw lots of cyclists going the other direction.
